The last day of holiday

L’Epifania tutte le feste porta via

In Italy, the 6th of January represents the last day of Christmas Holidays: the Feast of the Epiphany.

A very old Italian legend says that during the night of the 5th of January an old, witch-like woman riding a flying broom will go deliver candies to the children who have been good during the year, and coal to the children who have been bad.

The Befana – this is the witch’s name – has been part of the Italian tradition long before Santa Claus, even though rumors among the children say that the two of them are secretly married. Continue reading “The last day of holiday”

Wait… is it Christmas already?

“I’m positive I’ll be back with new content in November,” I said in October… and here I am now (I know, I’m a bad person).

Komorebi – my ‘Shinrin Yoku’ challenge

Once again thank you to Ray for her new challenge, this time based on the nourishment from the nature.

I live in Florence, Italy, but no matter how beautiful this city is, there’s almost no nature here. You can find some really nice places in the country outsite the city, but for me nothing’s like the wild, amazing landscapes of south Italy.

I was born and raised in the Calabria region, where the sea and the mountains are extremely easy to reach from every city (in more or less 20 minutes by car).

The Sila (this is how the last part of the Appennino is called) offers wide, wild places where there is nothing but trees. No internet, no phone line, no nothing! It’s the perfect place to relax and just be with nature. Continue reading “Komorebi – my ‘Shinrin Yoku’ challenge”

A 5 stars review for “Back in the rain”!!!

So many secrets, mystery, and danger. There are lies, cover ups and much more in this read. Not only that but there is surprises that you may not have seen coming. This book is a great read and I would definitely recommend it if you are not opposed to the warnings. Elen Chase did an incredible job on this book.

Back in the rain got an amazing review by Gay Book Reviews!! You can check it out HERE.

Maybe I’m being too enthusiastical about “just” one review, but as a self-published author who knows nothing about marketing, I’m really struggling to let people know that my work is out there. Knowing that someone liked my work so much boosts my confidence and gives me hope for my future as an author.

Getting ready for the Bologna Children’s book fair

I’m back!! Sorry I haven’t been updating my blog this week, but I had some really tough days at work. As you probably know by now, I work an office job in Florence, Italy. I was an event planner, but my bosses change their minds easily on what we’re doing so in two years I’ve been an event planner, a training-courses organizer, a normal secretary, a translator/interpreter, a promoter and the referent of a website. Currently, I’m all these things together.

At the same time, I try to realize my dream of becoming a writer and this blog is what keeps me on track and makes me want to write something new every day. Continue reading “Getting ready for the Bologna Children’s book fair”
